Terms of use
Version 1.0 · effective 26 October 2026
Contents
These terms apply to everyone who uses SOYL Academy: schools, tutors, teachers, pupils and parents. SOYL Academy is provided by SOYL AI Private Limited (“SOYL”, “we”). If your school has a separate written agreement with SOYL, that agreement applies where it differs from these terms. How we handle personal data is explained in our privacy policy.
1. Accounts and sign-in codes
- School staff join by invitation from their school and sign in with a one-time code sent to their email. Tutors can create their own workspace.
- Pupils sign in with a one-time code from their teacher. A code works once, for 15 minutes. Keep codes private and never share an account. A teacher can sign a pupil’s device out at any time, for example if a phone is lost.
- Parents sign in with a code sent to the email address their child’s school or tutor recorded. Parents can only view; they cannot change anything.
- Tell your school, your tutor or us at outreach@soyl.cloud straight away if you think someone else is using your account.
2. Pupils and parents’ permission
- A school or tutor may add only pupils they teach, in Grades 1 to 10.
- A pupil may use SOYL Academy only with a parent’s or guardian’s permission. A school that records permission itself must hold the parent’s real decision (for example a signed form) and record it truthfully. Tutors must use the parent link that SOYL sends; they cannot record permission themselves.
- Record a withdrawal of permission as soon as a parent tells you.
3. Teachers’ responsibilities
- Review AI drafts before publishing. AI can make mistakes. You are responsible for checking every question, answer, hint and variant before you approve it for pupils. Nothing reaches pupils until you approve it.
- You decide final marks and feedback. Automatic checks and AI summaries are suggestions, not marks.
- Upload only material you or your school have the right to use. Do not upload whole textbooks or other publishers’ work without permission.
- Do not put pupils’ or parents’ personal details into notes, uploads or assignment text: these may be sent to the AI to draft assignments.
- Keep feedback kind, fair and suitable for children. Parents can read the feedback you give their child.
4. Acceptable use
Use SOYL Academy only for teaching and learning. Do not:
- upload anything unlawful, harmful, hateful, sexual, violent or unsuitable for children, or any malware;
- try to see data you are not allowed to see, get around sign-in or security, or test the service for weaknesses without our written permission;
- copy, scrape or overload the service, or use automated tools against it;
- pretend to be someone else, or use SOYL Academy to advertise or sell to pupils or parents.
5. AI and simulators: no guarantee of correctness
AI drafts, AI hints and AI summaries can be wrong, incomplete or unsuitable. Simulators are simplified models for learning, not exact scientific instruments. SOYL does not promise that AI output or automatic checks are correct. Teachers review content and decide marks; please tell us about any mistake you find.
Back to top6. Your content and ours
- Schools, tutors and teachers keep their rights in the materials they add. You allow SOYL to store, process and show them to your pupils and colleagues only to provide SOYL Academy.
- SOYL owns the SOYL Academy software, simulators, designs and brand. Some content comes from others under their licences, for example PhET Interactive Simulations (University of Colorado Boulder) under CC BY 4.0, credited where it appears.
7. Trials, fees and availability
- Tutor workspaces start with a free trial. Fees, if any, are agreed separately; we will tell you the price before you are asked to pay.
- We work hard to keep SOYL Academy available and to keep pupils’ work safe, including work saved on a device while offline. The service is provided “as is”; it may sometimes be unavailable or change. Keep your own copies of important teaching materials.
8. Suspension and ending
- We may suspend an account, a workspace or a school’s access if these terms are broken, to protect pupils or the service, or if agreed fees are not paid. Where we can, we will tell you first. Suspending access does not delete data.
- A school or tutor can stop using SOYL Academy at any time. Data is then exported, erased or kept as our privacy policy describes.
9. Liability
As far as the law allows, SOYL is not responsible for indirect or unforeseeable losses arising from the use of SOYL Academy. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that the law does not allow us to limit, or any rights you have by law.
Back to top10. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes will be heard by the competent courts in India. Please contact us first: most problems can be solved quickly.
Back to top11. Changes to these terms
The version and effective date are at the top of this page. If we make an important change, we will tell schools and tutors before it takes effect. Continuing to use SOYL Academy after that means you accept the new terms.
